The time of the year I like most..

I absolutely love the begining of the year as well as the end of the year.. why? well, for starters, I love all the holidays we have.. for example, at the begining of the year, we have New year, Chinese New Year, Federal day, Thaipusam and Mohammad's Birthday.. But most importantly, its the time of the year where most of my family members are having their birthday celebration.. that includes me.. *hint hint* And to top things up, we have Valentine Days as well.. where we get an excuse to dress up properly and be with our loved ones.. LOL.. I know you can say that everyday is Valentine when we are with our loved ones..but still, its a day, where u can dress abnormally nicer, or spend a little more lavishly on your meals or do something more romantic for a change.. so it will be the Valentine of Valentines of the year.. *epic fail in convincing*

Towards the end of the year, we have Christmas, my boy is celebrating his birthday and our anniversary..I guess you get the why I like the begining and the end of the year now? =P

Hello peeps, how have your CNY celebration been? For me, I have good news! I have finally finished writing my thesis draft and handed in to my co-supervisor for checking.. So for the time being, I am thesis-burden-free!!

Some short updates of me:

Celebrated my sister's 21st birthday! She is finally legal!!

Went visiting around collecting ang pau.. (No photo) LOL

And visited a few shopping complexes but only took picture at Pavilion.. sorry, forgot to bring my camera.. and my stupid phone's camera software has a glitch which makes it extremely hard to take a photo.. =.=

Nunffnang Premier Screening on Contraband

For those of you who don't already know, I am currently extremely stressed out with writing my dissertation and am suppose to have handed in by today.. And since you've notice me write "suppose" it means, well, I have not yet done so.. Anyway, I have banned myself from blogging for the time being until I hand in my first thesis draft...

Today however, I've decided to bend that rule and write a little post on Nuffnang Premier Screening on Contraband.. For those of you who follow Nuffnang's blog closely, you would have noticed that there was a little contest for Glitterati Nuffnangers to win themselves a pair of premier tickets to watch Contraband last year.. I read the synopsis of the movie and felt like I just had to watch it, and so, I joined the little contest..

Sadly though, on the contest-winner-announcement-date, I did not receive an email from Nuffnang.. I went back and looked at the blog post and the comments that people left there just to see how uncreative I was compared to the rest.. Well, the past is the past right? I just left things be after that and continued rushing for my thesis..

Then surprise surprise, I received a call from Nuffnang today saying that there was a slight technical error previously when they sent out the email announcing the winners and I was actually one of them who won, but did not receive an email!!! *heart soaring into the air* Yipeee!! I happily accepted the tickets and will be having the chance to watch Contraband this coming Wednesday!!! =D

For those of you who are curious on what I wrote to win the contest, here's it:

Q. What you would do to save your family from being kidnapped by criminals?

A. I would teach my family how to blend in with the crowd around them, and to detect the slightest hint of danger around them.. And I would teach them how to run/hide/slip away from danger if they detect them.. However, at times things can still go wrong right? I would make sure that if any member my family come face to face with kidnappers, they would know how to defend themselves with martial arts.. Also, I would create a device which will looks exactly like our normal wrist watch that when activated, will alert our other family members of the whereabouts of the one in danger so we could rescue him/her or at the very least, report to the nearest police to my endangered family member..

Its the end of the year again.. Ever since 2005, I have always done something for the new years countdown, be it going to a shopping mall and screaming like mad with a bunch of people as the clock ticks down from: "10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1" or be it with my family travelling somewhere away from home or be it just watching the fireworks from some random location with my loved ones..

This year unfortunately, I am doomed to be stuck at home.. yea, you didn't read wrong.. I am doomed to be stuck at home.. Why? Well because, I am having food poison at this very moment that I am writing this post.. have been having it ever since 28/12/11 and unfortunately, I am going to countdown with it this year.. FML
Practically could not sleep or eat for the past few days.. Thank God I can swallow porridge today though.. Sigh..

Originally wanted to post pictures on each new year celebration I had but after searching, I realised I had NONE!!! WTF?? All my memories are just in my brain, no pictures!! FML!! who is going to believe that I have lived?? who?? *mental note to self: take more photos*

So since I am stuck at home, I'm going to come up with my new years resolution:

1) Graduate with a Masters in Medical Science
2) Find and get accepted in a school for phD
3) Lose those bloody weights I promised to lose (for more information, look at the left side of my blog)
4) Get a new laptop or tablet
5) Stop forgetting my Touch 'n' Go card
6) Drive more frequently

That's all I can come up with for now..

Oh and before I forget, Happy 2012 to all!!! May this year not be the end of the world but a good one with many more to come!!! =D

Weight loss tracker widget for blogs

If anyone knows me, they'd probably have heard me claimed that I am too fat, or that I want to lose weight, or that I can never lose fat.. And I guess, the reason why, I cannot lose fat, isn't because I genetically have big bones, or that I am genetically easily fat and can never lose weight.. I guess its more likely because my will power is so damn low in the department of weight lost.. Also, I tend to give up halfway.. Actually, come to think of it, I think I give up after 2 weeks of trying..

Ok, enough of crap, the reason for my blog post this time, is to promote this weight loss tracker widget for blogs.. Its something I have recently discovered when I randomly browsed through a few websites.. Enough said..

If you can see, I have one right on my left sidebar, with a picture of a girl hopping on a weighing machine, and a measuring tape right behind her.. I got it from LilySlim

There is a whole lot of different designs, that you can choose from for the weight loss widget.. And even better than that, there is a whole lot of other widgets such as fitness goals, diet days, etc.. There's even one for pregnancy and breastfeeding!!

Malacca @ Jonker Walk - Durian Products

I just realised that I actually never posted this.. So here it is..

Have you ever hear yourself say that you hate durian products, and that the only durian you'll eat is the original one? Well, I have a friend that told me he'll never eat durian but simply loved durian products.. I for one cannot understand this because the durian product I've only eaten were these:

It wasn't, however, until I went to Jonker Walk and tried all the different types of durian products.. and OMG, its delicious!!

So here are just a few photos:

First up was this white solid thing in the cup which I found out was duiran ice-cream.. At first glance it looked pale, and I was like no.. doubt it taste any better than the Durian Aiskrim potong that I've tried..

And then, when this white solid thing went into my mouth, I was like.. OMG.. Texture wise, taste wise, awesome! Smooth and yummy!!! *slurps*

Next, is the durian puffs..

I'm serious.. anyone durian lovers around? This is a must try.. a MUST TRY!!! OK? go get yourself some.. now!! When you bite the puff, the durian just oozes out.. Don't know how to explain.. its heavenly..

And then, here's the more famous one..

The durian cendol.. Can you see that yellowish sticky liquid at the top left corner? the one right next to the gula Melaka.. That, my dear is durian sauce #dunnowhatsitcalled and honestly, I like the orginal cendol with gula Melaka more.. A bit of a disappointment I would say.. but still, the picture looks good eh? =P

I really, seriously cannot explain why this bag below here is seen everywhere!! Everyone has it.. Be it red, navy blue, black, brown, etc.. Why?? Why is it everywhere?? Why does everyone have it???

The other day, I came out from the cinema, I saw 5 ladies walking in front of me, all having the same handbag!! Only a different colour!!! Why?!!

As if its not enough, I went home and while I was browsing through Groupons I saw this!

OMG!!! why?!

Invigilations

So, I've made up my mind to blog when I "accidentally" open my blogger.. #forthetimebeing
And so here I am..

For two days in a row I have been dragging myself to school at the crack of dawn just to earn a tad bit of money from invigilating.. And guess what, I realise that invigilation is the world's most boring job.. It requires you to just sit and stare *plays Jonas brothers, Stop and Stare* or walk around and stare *plays Jonas brothers, Stop and Stare*.. And truth be told, I am not even bothered if anyone cheats.. All I wish is for time to go faster.. And then I remembered how I wished I had more time during exams.. *takes back previous wish*

One more invigilation to go before I finish my task though, and at this moment, I have the strongest urge ever to either fake a sick call on that day, or just tell the Academic Administration Department that something came up and I won't be able to make it on that day.. Anyone has a suggestion?

Ultimate Cheesy 7 Pizza

I have 2 reasons to post this: 1, my readers like reading my food post.. 2, i miss photoshopping.. so.. there u go..

Anyone craving for cheese? I recently saw lots of advertisement regarding this Ultimate Cheesy 7 pizza..

It contains 7 different cheese: Mozzarella cheese, Cheddar cheese, Monterey Jack cheese, Provolone cheese, Romano cheese, Parmesan cheese & Cream cheese. I know, OMG right?!

As I was saying, if you are craving for cheese, this is one meal you are sure to help satisfy your craving.. And I mean like, satisfied for quite some time..

See that round buldging thingy? Thats cream cheese.. I tried eating the ball alone and it was cheesy and also kinda too salty at the same time.. But if you spread it around the pizza and eat it.. it is much much better.. =D

After having like 3 pieces of it, I told myself I wouldn't be in any hurry to eat cheese for the time being..

As you know, I've recently become someone who only blogs once in a blue moon.. no point mentioning it every blue moon that I come back..

Also, I believe you guys know clearly why I disappear.. My life kind of lack the fun factor and is filled with the stress factor.. Ok.. That's that..

I've recently taken up some part time job to make ends meet.. In doing that, I have a more lenient restriction on how I spend my money.. But then again, my time is so packed I sometimes feel I don't have room to breath.. And yet, there is so many things I still want to do.. So many things I still want to achieve.. Recently however, I have this tendency to let things go.. I have this little voice behind my head telling me to stop trying.. to give up.. Worst thing is, its also asking me, why am I putting myself through all these? Will it do me any good?

There is a time in life, I suppose, when you get yourself so worked up for your goal, that at that point, you'd wonder, "is that goal really worth all that you put in?" "can you continue putting in those effort? for how long?"

I'm at that stage right now..

I finally decided to go eat something I can easily get off the coffee shops on any street at a rather pricey location - Duck Rice & Roasted Pork Rice @ Canton I

And, in my opinion, the duck rice was quite a disappointment.. Perhaps the meat was more properly cleaned and garnish, but the taste.. hmmm.. not the best I've tasted..

The roasted pork on the other hand was awesome.. Thick crispy roasted pork.. You know how some times you go into a coffee shop and order roasted pork and they give you this tiny cut roasted pork with its lack of texture and extremely oily? This is different.. The roasted pork was thickly cut, and it somehow tasted compact and juicy.. Flavour was not really there though.. But the saddest thing was the whole roasted pork only had FOUR slices of meat.. T___________________T

Oh, and that drink at the right side in the picture is called a Flower Tea. Looks beautiful doesn't it? I remember one of my friend told me it looked like an alien.. ROFL I noticed that the flower tea was also available at Dragon I and then I was suddenly enlightened. I realised that Canton I and Dragon I should be owned by the same mother company because of the flower tea and also the similarity in the name.. Ok, don't laugh any more.. I know I sound like and idiot.. but so what? =P

Oh well, some long delayed posts on food again..

I have promoted this in numerous occasion to numerous people.. Andes sells amazingly tasty and juicy pork burger for a crazily affordable price..

It contains a large chunk of pork patties that is just too huge for the mouth alone.. And when you cut it open, melted cheese immediately flows out from the patties.. All this for the price of RM13.90.. I'm serious, only RM13.90.. And this is just a pork burger.. If you are a beef & pork person, they have the right combination for you.. You can try their Aussie Burger, a combination of pork and beef, giving an even more yummy taste to it.. Try it!!

Also, the ambience is beautiful.. Suitable for couples to have a quite lunch or dinner together at a nice cosy environment.. =)

I often try my best in the things I do, perhaps put too much thoughts on some situations that I face in life, and more often than not think of the worst possible outcome when I foresee a situation.. Why you might ask? People even like to use this Chinese proverb one me: 船到桥头，自然直。(Direct translation: when the boat reaches the jetty, it will naturally parallel itself to the jetty.) I guess that may be true at some point of time, and also sometimes worrying too much might prove to be a total waste of time.

But I am who I am, and I do what I do, because I want to know that whatever happens, for good or for bad, in any one situation, that I know I've tried my best and have no regrets..

After a long disappearance, I decided to post this piece of food entry of mine.. But after nicely editing them, I left them in my draft box, and never came around to post it.. Eventually, I post it on Facebook instead.. But since today I quite gatal tangan (itchy hands), I decided to post it up..

This tiramisu was taken at Suchan Deli, The Curve.. Price range is RM11.90..

Top layer was filled with crunchy nuts..The second and lowest layer were sponge cakes and the middle layer was the real thing, tiramisu.. If you prefer a tiramisu that isn't bitter and more to a sweet type, then this is the choice for you.. I personally prefer the sponge layer to be less though.. =)

First time I tried something like this.. The chicken was cooked with sweet dark sauce with watermelon balls rounded using the ice-cream scoop.. Quite interesting..

Dang Gui Soup Herbal Soup set at Tan Sifu, One Utama..

All I can say is - authentic taste of chinese herbal soup!!

I saw a crab!!!

For those of you who do not have my facebook, or did see this particular picture that I have uploaded, the picture below here is a Fiddler crab. The name fiddle crab is apprarently given to it because it potrays a look of a crab that is fiddling.

I originally took this photo because I thought it was a handicap crab with only one claw. However, much to my limited knowledge, I was corrected by my friends who told me that the crab was not handicapped and it in fact did have 2 asynmmetric claws: one big and one small. The smaller claw is used to pick up food and bring it to the mouth whereas the larger claw are used in combat of courtship over females by male crabs. A rather interesting story from a funny looking crab photo that I took at a seafood restaurant, at Padang Pasir.

Truth be told, I have not been blogging for awhile.. I have actually not been doing anything much exciting to blog about in awhile.. Ok, let me rephrase that, I have not been doing anything much exciting a few weeks ago.. So there was practically no pictures or any interesting thing to talk about.. Well, unless you don't mind reading about me fretting about lab work over and over again, about the mess I am in, and about all the paper work I have to do..

My Honeymoon Dessert

Decided that we'd go have dessert for lunch today and ended up at My Honeymoon Dessert. Have been wanting to try out the durian pancake there for quite sometime now, but never actually stepped in there up until today.

Overall, I'd say the desserts were quite good. The variety of choices were quite vast as well. If you are looking for desserts that are not too sweet, then this is what you are looking for. The Durian Pancake (RM9) had a generous amount of durian flesh in it with just the right amount of cream wrapped around it. However, be forewarned, make sure you eat it while its cold, otherwise, you're definitely not going to find it as good as I did. When eating the Sasame paste dessert with Tau Fu Fah (RM6) (can't remember the exact name =.=), make sure you mix the whole thing well, it taste a whole lot better after I did that. The Mellow Fellow Pastry (RM16) looks absolutely gorgeous. In my opinion, a perfect combination of sweet, crispy and yummy. A small problem though, it was kinda hard to eat when the top crispy layer starts to soften, b'cause, the heavy ice-cream on top will tend to fall off.

Oh well, to prevent from boring you all off. That's all I'm sharing for this post. Do try it when you have the chance. They have quite a number of branches.

I think I'm finally getting old and leaving the so called "up and hip" society. The world "chillex" that never existed in my dictionary actually exist.. Chillex actually means chill and relax.. And they have a restaurant named chillex as well..

Sorry to say that in my opinion, the food is really not up to expectation.. I really did not enjoy the meal.. The only thing good is that the service was quite good and the environment was nice.. I really hope they can improve in their cooking standards..

I realise whenever I share my fears or thoughts, the worst somehow comes to reality. So I guess, I should shut up for now and just hope for the best?

Ok, I know that is random. I really miss blogging but I have nothing to blog all the same.

Feeling kind of upset right now and really wish the reason for this feeling would go away. This reason of being sad is becoming more and more frequent recently. At first, my reaction was to get mad, throw a tantrum and make inconsiderate demands. Then, I decided to be more understanding. And then I decided to hide my feelings, but I still feel so sad in side, and I don't feel like "the reason" is going away.

I'm starting to lose self-confidence. I feel so vulnerable and helpless all the same. I keep wishing that the one way to boost my confidence would finally have a chance to show itself, but so far, it hasn't happened, and I really don't know how long more I have to wait. Nothing I do right now seems to make this feeling go away. Is it just myself or is something happening? I want to know.. I want to know!!

Drinking too much water

" Have you drank any water today?" and "Go drink water." How often do you hear this statement? I have seen several people who are always reminded to drink water. I know that the person that ask is of good intentions but recently I came upon this article mentioning about the weaknesses of water and so I decided to post this up.

I know that the sentence might be hanging. That's because my photo got corrupted and I was only able to recover this much of it. Anyway, the finishing sentence is basically trying to ask you to let your thirst be your guide and not to over drink just because you think you lack water fluid.

So the next time someone asks you to drink water, you can come up with this new knowledge of yours instead of grumbling about it. Hope you enjoyed.. =)

Ok, here's another eating post..

Heard from a friend a long time back that Paddington Pancake has much more variety than it had a long time ago - 100++ different types of pancakes.. Darling and I decided to have lunch there last week and we tried 2 different pancakes..

The different pancakes actually meant that they came with a different combination of "side dishes".. Like the two you can see above.. It's kind of like eating all different kinds of western food with pancake as your source of carbohydrate.. and thats how they make up 100++ types of pancakes..

Anyhow, there really are a few different types of pancakes.. I tried the upside down pineapple pancake and dear tried the savory pancake.. There are a few more left that we decided that we'd try some other time..

I've seen so many people achieve things that I can only dream of achieving.. Each time one succeeds, I feel a sharp annoyance of this feeling called "envy" cursing through my veins.. And now I ask myself why am I so far behind? Why am I no where near the goals I set myself?

Truth is, I'm lazy.. I either lack self-confidence or I'm over confidence.. I don't try hard enough.. I don't know how to make my goals clear to others.. And the biggest reason of my failure is, I like to give up halfway.. zzz

So I guess, I've finally come up with my "belated" New Years Resolution..
1) I will not be lazy
2) I will keep myself level headed as much as possible
3) I' will not give up halfway
4) and the hardest one of all, I'll try to express my goals to others clearly..

I guess, every time I disappear for a long time, and then I appear again with quite a pathetic excuse and I usually start my post by saying something about my lack of appearance. This time, the only reason I came back and blog was because I really don't know what else I can do.

I really did try very hard, and really did put a lot of effort into my Masters, yet time after time, incidence after incidence, pushed me backwards, like the waves pushing the swimmer back each time he/she swims forward. I'm so tired of swimming forward and now, I'm just floating on this sea of torment, letting the waves drift me to whatever direction it likes. I don't think its possible to go any further backwards, but then again, you'd never know, would you?

I've no energy to keep fighting. I'm not that strong or tough as most people make out to think I am. For now, I'll just bare with the waves that hit me and wish as hard as I can, that one day the waves will move in direction that favours my direction.

Recently, I've heard so many comments about it.. About how great it taste, how awesome it is.. yada yada.. And all these while, I've been imagining snowflakes to either look like ice kacang or like some ice blended thingy in a cup..

Finally had a chance to visit Snow flakes..

Some of the few dishes that we tried out.. The Taro balls is a must try!! Of the few dishes in the picture, I actually heart the left top corner one the most.. That green tea with red beans.. And the icing below taste exactly like soya bean ice-cream!!! awesome!! =D

Struggling

Wondering why I have disappeared yet again? For the past 2 weeks I have been sleeping way pass midnight and waking up before 6am every single day. When I reach university, I dump my bag and head straight to the lab and start my hectic day. I don't have time for lunch, always end up either making my friends wait for me for a long long time or end up eating take aways in during 15 mins experiment waiting time. At the end of the day, I rush home, and start working on my slides till midnight. Finally, I let my supervisor check my slides yesterday, but after supervisor checks it, she said, " Your presentation slides got no content." T_____________T

And to top things up, I am sick!!! What shit is this?!

Can I just wish for better days ahead? pretty please?

I don't know what to do.. All I can feel right now is the shiver down my spine.. The helpless feeling creeping though my soul.. What have I done? How can I make such a stupid mistake? I did everything so carefully.. I don't know where and what went wrong..I did things slowly.. Took my time.. I even got the best readings I've ever gotten.. Only at the last step, when I was working on the last step.. How come I didn't realise the problem before I continued with the other 2?

The worst thing is knowing that I don't have a chance at repeating, that we don't have the funds for repeating.. Because dear is so in love and so in need to go back to practice his wushu for his competition, we had to celebrate his birthday early.. So all my plans for his birthday celebration this year had to be put on hold, and I had to come up with a plan B..

Took him to Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. because ~~I so wanted to try it~~ I know he like shrimps..

The menu itself already make my mouth water man.. ~~And the price itself already puncture a hole in my pocket man!~~

An interesting idea they have in this restaurant was that they had a sign to notify the waiter/waitress when we would like to be served or when they should leave us alone..
This is the sign, when you put the Stop Forrest Stop sign, they would come and serve you..

When you put the Run Forrest Run sign, they leave you alone.. =D
Letting Liang choose what he wants to eat.. =D
Camwhore a bit after they took our order..

This is why I will never use flash again unless it deems ultimately necessary!!

And now that I read them, they no longer deem fit for me to post them anymore..And so I deleted them.. From now on, I'll just post what I am thinking.. After all, it does seem like a perfect time to update..seeing that I'm actually kinda upset over something at the moment.. Anyway,

I read at Chesserland a few months ago about this restaurant and thought I'd went and try it out..

Few reasons why I despise taking the train

When the train comes and you try to enter, people from behind or from beside tries to push you either in or out of the train.
When the train stops and you try to get out, people try to come in before you can even get out!! (use common sense lar, if you don't let people get out before you come in, how will there be any place?)
When people try to force themselves in, some of the "ahems" screams loudly, "ouch!! woi!! don't push!!", and the "ahems" from outside screams, "oooi!! Get in a little more la!!" (I wonder, can't you just shut up and move in or out?)
In the morning the train is bloody cold, but in the evening, the train has practically no air-cond and its jam packed with sweaty, smelly people!!

The difference 15 minutes can make..

Finally decided to listen to my mom's advice and wake up 15 minutes early than I did in the past few weeks.. And the results?

I reached my destination 45 minutes earlier, I got the chance to sit in all the trains that I've taken today with little or no crowd at all and the air conditioning in the trains were working!! Alleluyah..

Sadly though, when I arrived, I was too early.. No one was here to open the door.. So I stood stuck outside for another 15 minutes or so.. Oh well, pros and cons I guess..

Things are definitely looking up.. =)

Have been travelling on four trains on a daily basis. Waking up 4 hours before I actually arrive to my destination and reaching at a minimum of only 2 hours after I leave my work desk. What is happening to my life? I don't know..

Everyday I come home dead tired and when the alarm rings the next day, I have to literally drag myself out of bed.. I guess this shows you why I have no pictures to update..

Bare with me for the time being, for when things turns for the better, and it will, believe me on this.. I'll upload more beautiful pictures.. Till then, stay tune to my "rather'blant" blog.. I'll be back with more updates..

In the Morning
I want to lose weight.. I want to lose weight!! Ok.. I'm gonna starve myself.. I promise I'm gonna eat less, I promise I'll lose weight this time.. I promise I'll see things through..

By lunch
Not bad, I can do this.. I can do this!! =D
Promise I'll go for jogging or do some exercise this evening.. And I'll do exercise in the morning as well!!

By evening
But hor, if I go run at the playground will I look like a lunatic? Will everyone stare at me? I think, I better do some exercise at home instead..

10 minutes later,
But what exercise should I do le? I'll check it out on the internet.. Promise I'll do it tomorrow..

Dinner time
Wow, today mum's cooking is great.. but I'm suppose to be on diet wor.. Hmmm.. Forget about it.. Eat first, tomorrow continue diet..

Thats why, up until today, I'm still the way I am.. =.=
